Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting

The most hilarious thing I have ever seen an umpire do happened when I was ten years old. We were playing the Omaha Pee-Wees (I know, right?) at the Omaha Super Series. The batter was hit by a pitch that basically just hit his jersey and then went to the backstop. The runner on third, thinking it was a passed ball, bolted for home.

Not so fast. The umpire jumped out in front of the plate, took three quick steps down the line, and did a motion that can best be described as “circular-moving pistol hands” while shouting, “Dead ball, dead ball! You go baaaaaaaaack!” Our whole team was cracking up in the dugout, and I’m pretty sure most of their defense was too. That dude was fucking awesome.

But what happened at the Phillies game last Monday night might just win the Espy for Best Dance Moves by an Umpire.

Can’t. Stop. Laughing.
